About the Artist Glenyse Henschel

Glenyse Henschel is a San Francisco Bay Area native who is very passionate about her art. As a child she serendipitously stumbled upon a quote by the great actress, Eleonora Duse:

“If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass has the power to move you, rejoice, for your soul is alive.”

This became her motto for life and has defined her artistic career. She paints what moves her, whether it be the giant redwood or a tiny butterfly wing. All of life is magnificent. All of life is a work of art.

“Although I love the place I live, that which I call my home, I like to explore beyond the boundaries of this little community known as the Bay Area. The world is not a sterile, safe place but wild and full of variety. So, too, are my subjects. Some are wild, some are friendly, some are warm and some are hostile. None are tame. Within each of us resides a wild place. Release the wildness inside.”

A signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society and the Int'l Society of Acrylic Painters, as well as an associate member of the National Watercolor Society, California Watercolor Association and a number of local art groups, Glenyse has had award-winning paintings shown both locally and throughout the United States. Her paintings can also be found in many private collections in the U.S and Europe.
